1. Welcome Coins

Description:  Students are presented with a customizable welcome message and given coins for their first login to the platform.

Use case:   

• Marketing strategy - Attract learners to your program
• “Feel good” message and positive start to the learning program
• Introduction to coin earning/store

2. Grade-Rules - Moodle/Totara only

Description:  Award coins based on grades.  Grade ranges can be set to allocate coins when students achieve specified grade ranges.   You can set the range site-wide for any grade item, including course grades.  You can also set the ranges for specific grade items within courses.

Use case:

• Require certain levels of achievement to release coins
• Use in combination with existing completion-based coin rewards
• Encourage mastery.  If students increase their grade into the next higher grade range, the difference in coins will be added to their total.

3. Refer a Friend

Description:  Students earn coins for successfully referring their friends to the same learning program.

Use case:

• Increase registrations
• Useful for extended enterprise/customer education programs

4. Timed Entertainment - Moodle/Totara only

Description:  Students purchase blocks of time from the Motrain rewards store.  This time is claimed in Moodle and permits timed access to flagged or “entertainment” courses.

Use case:

• Inmates earn coins for completing educational courses and can spend those coins to access entertainment content
