Move players to a new team - Totara and Moodle

Modified on Thu, 8 Feb at 2:03 AM

Please note that these directions are for moving players to a new team using Moodle/Totara.  Please follow these steps in order.

1. In the Motrain block/Settings, enable Local Team Management:

2. In Totara/Moodle, remove the user from the "Old" audience/cohort.

3. Add the user to the "New" audience/cohort.

4. Ensure the "New" audience/cohort is associated with the right Team on Motrain

5. Wait until cron runs TWICE.

6. The player will automatically move to the new Team on the Motrain dashboard.  Motrain will automatically remove the "Old" player mapping and create a "New" player mapping.

7. You can move multiple users at the same time.

Troubleshooting:

A player can only belong to ONE team at a time.  That means the user can only belong to ONE audience/cohort associated with a Motrain Team.

View list: shows the players that belong to two or more associated teams.  You will need to move the user to one audience/cohort.

Re-sync:  Use the resync button if you need to re-sync multiple users.  This should only be done after waiting for cron to run twice and you're still not seeing players move.

Player Mapping:  Check to see if the player is mapped correctly.  Use the Inspect button:

You can see all of the details of a player mapping from this page to help identify any problems.  In the example below, the problem is the player belongs to two audiences connected to two Motrain teams.

The solution is to remove them from the incorrect audience/cohort, then let cron run twice to move the player to the correct Team on Motrain.  After moving the player to the correct audience/cohort, you can also click the "Resync now" button.
